HBO’s True Detective Season 3 Premiere Set for January

The eagerly anticipated third season of True Detective now has a premiere date along with a fresh set of photos from the upcoming season.

HBO announced on Thursday that season three of the noir anthology series premieres on January 13th at 9 PM ET/PT.

The awards state that "any artist with a previous Grammy nomination as a performer" would not qualify. She was up for for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance past year but both went to Kendrick Lamar.

HBO has announced that True Detective will be airing its season three premiere on Sunday, January 13 at 9:00 p.m. Oscar victor Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), Ray Fisher (Justice League), and Stephen Dorff (Star) star in the upcoming season, and you can check out new photos now in the gallery below! HBO also has the debut season of Watchmen next year and the final season of Veep. As with the breakout original installment of True Detective, Pizzolatto is the sole writer of the third season with the exception of Episode 4, which he co-wrote with David Milch.

Not everybody loved the second season of True Detective, but the show's first season (starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson) was nothing short of a masterpiece. Season 3 stars Mahershala Ali, Mamie Gummer, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy, Carmen Ejogo, and Ray Fisher. Stephen Dorff (Blade) plays his partner, Roland West, an Arkansas State Investigator whose career has been influenced by a baffling crime Arkansas. Ejogo will play Amelia Reardon, an Arkansas schoolteacher with a connection to two missing children in 1980.
