Earlier on Friday, US State department spokeswoman Heather Nauert in a Twitter post disclosed that Hook was travelling to India and Europe as the deadline for a second set of punishing US sanctions was to take effect from 4 November.

Iran is India's third largest oil supplier and it would need time to switch to other producers, a process in which the United States has said it is helping out. Noting that she has seen reports of India continuing to buy oil from Iran after November 4, she said this was a topic of conversation with the Indian government when Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was in India last month.

Trump in May pulled the USA out of the 2015 nuclear accord, saying it had "failed to achieve the fundamental objective of blocking all paths to an Iranian nuclear bomb" and did not deal with Tehran's "malign activities, including its ballistic missile programme and its support for terrorism".

Indian Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday said that two state refiners have placed orders for importing crude oil from Iran in November.

"We make our policies very clear to those countries. We continue to have conversations with the government of Iraq about that particular issue and the implications for the reimposition of sanctions that were previously lifted or even waived under the JCPOA", Nauert said.

Japanese officials have said Iran's oil is "extremely important" to their country's energy security.

Furthermore, more young people were also engaging in weekly abstinence compared to previous generations (from 35% to 50%). Researchers studied data on nearly 10,000 youngsters, collected via the annual Health Survey for England .

The firm said China had also increased shipments from the Middle Eastern country by 29,000 bpd to 620,000 bpd, while cutting its USA purchases amid an ongoing trade spat with the United States.

Government officials said, given India's dependence on oil imports, the nation will continue to import oil from Iran.

Reports emerged in early September that India had given permission to state-owned refiners to import oil from Iran on Iranian tankers using Iranian-backed insurance, after the biggest Indian shipping company backed out of Iran voyages due to the USA sanctions.

The spokesperson's observation came a day after President Donald Trump said India "is going to find out ..."

India signed an agreement with Russian Federation last week to sign five S-400 missile defense systems at an estimated cost of $5.4 billion despite appeals from the United States that the S-400s were a "focus area" of secondary sanctions under CAATSA (Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act), a law aimed at punishing Russian Federation for annexing Crimea from Ukraine and interfering in USA elections in 2016.

He had said that India has its own energy requirements which it has to fulfill. And India will find out. "The United States government just reviews that very carefully", Nauert said. We'll see. So I'm not going to get ahead of him, but certainly when we hear about things such as purchasing oil or the S-400 systems, it's not helpful.
