Michelle Obama on George W. Bush: 'I love him to death'

Former first lady Michelle Obama on Thursday praised ex-President George W. Bush, telling NBC's "Today" Show she loves him "to death". John McCain's funeral last month: a very old cough drop from his own days in the White House.

"That's how we sit at all the official functions, so he is my partner in crime at every major thing where all the formers gather", she said.

She told TODAY that she didn't realize anyone was watching.

The first ladies have met in the past, most memorably before President Trump's inauguration, when Mrs. Trump presented Mrs. Obama with a gift that was later revealed to be a "lovely frame."

"He's a wonderful man - he's a amusing man", she told hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie during an appearance where she announced a new Obama Foundation initiative funding 1,500 programs that will educate girls around the world. "He's a amusing man".

Mrs. Obama made the announcement on Thursday, International Day of the Girl. "And I was like, 'How long have you had these?' They said, 'A long time". She says she's "so proud" of Sasha and Malia Obama.

She says she and former President Barack Obama have been busy working on books and caring for their daughters.
