But, seated across from President Donald Trump at the Resolute Desk, the musician delivered a rambling, multipart monologue Thursday that touched on social issues, hydrogen planes, mental health, endorsement deals, politics and oh so much more. West did most of the talking.

After West's speech ended, Trump was left momentarily and uncharacteristically speechless as advisers, including Kushner and Ivanka Trump, looked on. "I think it cheapens the presidency".

"I brought a GIF with me right here", West said in the Oval Office on Thursday during a meeting as he turned his phone over to the president. "I just channeled it". Hope Hicks, Trump's spokeswoman at the time, said West had requested the meeting. West was referring to the Tesla CEO's recent problems with the SEC.

And Mr. West did indeed talk about that-a little.

Asked by a reporter for his opinions on gun control, West, who is from Chicago, a city with one of the highest violent crime rates in the country, responded candidly. The rapper's wife, reality star Kim Kardashian, visited the White House in May.

The rapper made the trip to the White House with National Football League legend Jim Brown.

"It is very unfair to African-Americans". "And there are many other people like that". So, there's theories that there's infinite amounts of universe, and there's alternate universe. I've known him for a long time.

Hurricane Michael strikes Florida, moves to Carolinas as tropical storm
CNN's John Berman and Dianne Gallagher report from Panama City Beach, Florida, as Hurricane Michael approaches landfall. At Jinks Middle School in Panama City, the storm peeled back part of the gym roof and tore off a wall.

He's also locked in a dispute with several black NFL football players who have knelt down during the playing of the U.S. national anthem to protest racial inequality.

"We'll get rid of Air Force One", the president replied. Which is actually - our murder rate is going down by 20 percent every year.

"There was something about when I put this hat on it made me feel like Superman", he said, addressing Mr Trump. Trump later tweeted in support of the shocking move. West launched into a soliloquy-peppered with occasional curse words-about his own upbringing, violence in Chicago and his unapologetic backing of a president who has found tepid support among other entertainers or black Americans. "But they told me, and I liked him, and I'm not scared to say what I like".

"You know, my dad and my mum separated, so I didn't have a lot of male energy in my home". I didn't rank them in any set order, because how in the world would you even do that?

Asked if he would consider campaigning with the rapper, Trump said: "I could see it".

"I love this guy right here". Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) said as he stared, rapt, at a video replay of West in the Oval Office.

He also denounced previous claims of bipolar disorder, explaining how he was really just sleep deprived.
