The 41-year-old French World Cup victor, who had been working as an assistant coach for the Belgian national team, signed a contract through until June 2021.

Former Arsenal star Thierry Henry was on Saturday named as Monaco coach, the struggling Ligue 1 club announced.

With some hard work to do in his first managerial job, Henry - who was an assistant coach to Roberto Martinez with the Belgium national team - will be looking to strengthen his playing squad over the coming months and it would be no surprise if he were to look at the Arsenal squad for new recruits.

Monaco were beaten 2-1 at home by Rennes in their last match to seal Jardim's fate, with an away fixture against Strasbourg next up as they look to get back on track, potentially with Henry in charge.

The 44-year-old also guided Monaco to the Champions League semi-finals in 2016-17 and helped develop players such as Paris St-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, Atletico Madrid's Thomas Lemar, and Manchester City pair Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy.

Google Pixel 3 & Pixel 3 XL will get Android updates till 2021
The Pixel phones could enable better photos, but that alone may not be enough to lure smartphone users on a significant scale. While both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 run it, the Pixel 3 will receive its key features and updates for it before the Pixel 2 .

The former Arsenal striker has a strong link with the principality side.

Vadim Vasilyev, Monaco's chief executive, added: 'His knowledge of football, his passion for the game, his high standards and his commitment to our colors make his nomination a reality.

'Thierry is both aware of the task ahead and eager to start his new job.

He will be joined at the club by Valado Tralhao, the Under-23s coach at Benfica, and Patrick Kwame Ampadu, who had been working at the Arsenal Academy. He can count on our trust and all our support to bring a new dynamic to the team and carry out the mission'.
