"The second electric athlete from Zuffenhausen: At its meeting on 18 October, the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG gave the green light for series production of the concept study Mission E Cross Turismo", said Porsche.

The vehicle will resemble the Mission E Cross Turismo concept revealed earlier this year, which looked nearly exactly like the Mission E (now-Taycan) with a few inches of lift, some body cladding, and a wagon-esque rear hatch.

It isn't clear if the production version will follow the soft-roader route or simply be a standard wagon option for the Taycan, akin to Porsche's Panamera Sport Turismo wagon.

Tiger Woods blames fatigue for Ryder Cup flop
Tiger Woods has put his poor form in the Ryder Cup down to being "tired" and the cumulative effects of the season. He'd just become the No. 1 player in the world. "That makes it feel even more special".

Porsche hasn't yet said what the showroom-ready version of the vehicle will be called, but the concept gives us a good idea of how fast it'll be in top spec.

The Taycan is expected to arrive with various levels of power, ranging from 400 to 600 horsepower in Taycan Carrera, Taycan Carrera S, and Taycan Turbo trims, though the most potent model will include 600 hp and a 310-mile range. It produces the equivalent of 590bhp from its battery and a pair of permanent-magnet electric motors, making 0-62mph possible in under 3.5 seconds.

Being a variant of the electric Taycan, which will be launched on the market by the end of next year, the still unnamed production version of the Cross Turismo will use the same platform.
