Lionel Messi has left Barcelona's Spanish league match against Sevilla in the first half because of a right arm injury.

The Nou Camp was brought to near silence and players from both teams rushed over to check on Messi, who was twitching around in considerable pain.

They face Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday and host the first Clasico of the season against Real Madrid on Sunday.

Ivan Rakitic scored the home side's final goal against his former club in the 88th minute with a first-time volley, only to have Luis Muriel answer for Sevilla in the 91st minute.

However, he remained down after treatment in obvious discomfort and was unable to continue, eventually being replaced by Ousmane Dembele after 26 minutes.

The worrying moment came as Messi looked to dispossess Sevilla midfielder Franco Vazquez, and as he became unbalanced he landed extremely awkwardly on his right arm. When they did Marc Andre ter Stegen was more than a match for them. Muriel finally got the better of the goalkeeper but only after Ivan Rakitic had rifled in the fourth with three minutes left. More Barcelona nerves will be shredded waiting for confirmation that Messi's injury will not keep him out for too long.

None of the companies involved in the recall identified the corn supplier, and the FSIS did not return a request for comment. Salmonellosis can cause symptoms like diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever, and it may last between four and seven days.

Getting back to winning ways will be a huge relief for Valverde, but Messi's injury gives him another headache. Suarez then stepped up and coolly converted from 11 metres out to extend the Barcelona lead to 3-0. Ter Stegen then made another fine double save from Luis Muriel and Sarabia.

Behind Messi and level with team-mate Sarabia, Wissam Ben Yedder was among LaLiga's top scorers this term with nine in all competitions, but the striker had little involvement.

79 - Pablo Sarabia from Sevilla left footed shot from outside the box to the top left corner.

The lead was doubled in the 12th minute and it was all Messi, who skipped past Gomez and fired a low effort into the bottom corner as Barca took control.
