Exploding toilets that have hurt 23 people have prompted the recall of 1.4 million pressure-assisted flushing systems.

"To uphold our commitment for safety and quality to our customers, Flushmate has announced, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, a voluntary recall of all Flushmate II 501-B pressure-assisted flushing systems", a spokesperson for Flushmate confirmed to Fox News.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has also confirmed that 1,446 reports of malfunctioning Flushmate units have been reported in the US, along with seven in Canada, resulting in $710,000 in property damage and 23 injuries - one of which required surgery to a customer's foot. They were also installed in toilets made by American Standard, Corona, Crane, Kohler and Mansfield. The explosions have caused about $710,000 in damages.

The product is sold at Home Depot, Lowe's stores and online at http://www.grainger.com, http://www.hdsupply.com, http://www.homedepot.com and other online retailers from September 1996 through December 2015 for about $108 for the units without toilets. The model code is 10 characters long and is located on the same product label. "The model code starts with M and ends with F".

Ramos plays down training ground flashpoint
It took Luka Modric to have a word with Ramos to calm him down before the punishment was over for the young man. Tensions are high around the Spanish capital as Madrid's woeful form shows no sign of improvement.

Owners of the units can contact Flushmate online to have a technician install a free replacement unit.

The recall issued Thursday included about 17,300 flushing systems sold in Canada.

This is not to be confused with Flushmate III, of which the 503 series got recalled in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

Those with flushing systems in this recall are advised by Flushmate to stop using the flushing system right now, cut the water supply to the toilet, then flush the toilet to release the pressure.
