Ryanair under fire over racist incident on flight

The video caused outrage on social media, with Twitter users calling on people to boycott the airline for not removing the man.

The incident happened on flight FR015 from Barcelona to London Stansted on Friday afternoon.

However the man responds: "Don't talk to me in a f****** foreign language you stupid ugly cow".

At one point a member of the cabin crew comes over and tells the man to not be rude, and the elderly woman was moved.

The man's vile rant stunned passengers, with one attempting to intervene.

"I tell you what, I hope someone sits there because I don't want to sit next to your ugly face, your ugly f****** face", the man can be heard shouting at the stunned passenger.

Passengers attempted to help the woman and her daughter, with many calling for him to be taken off the flight.

One posted: "After the black woman was verbally assaulted, dehumanized, moved. the flight attendant took it a step further and went back to console the abuser".

A video has gone viral of the incident and features a man threatening a 77-year-old black woman with arthritis named Mrs. Gayle, who didn't move fast enough from her seat to allow the man get to his window seat.

She said she took her mum, who migrated to the United Kingdom from Jamaica in the 1960s, on holiday to mark the anniversary of her mother's husband's death.

The woman's daughter told HuffPost UK: "Mum's really feeling upset and very stressed about this situation, on top of the grief she's already experiencing". As for me, I'm upset about the whole thing too - the fact that the passenger wasn't taken off the plane and how the situation was dealt with, ' she said.

Robert Halfon, MP for Harlow, described Ryanair as "horrific" while Hull MP Karl Turner said he would be writing to the airline and Aviation Minister Liz Sugg.

"Clearly committed criminal offences".

Fellow MSP politician Margaret Ferrier said: "Just watched the shocking footage on a @Ryanair aircraft, utterly disgusting".

The report states that she was seated elsewhere after the altercation and that the incident was reported to police who are investigating.

A spokesperson for Ryanair said: 'We have reported this to the police in Essex and as this is now a police matter, we can not comment further'.

"We are working closely with Ryanair and the Spanish authorities on the investigation".
