Each month these meetings provide information on some aspect of breast cancer or women's health.

"We just want to find a way to give back - we think cancer research is really important, because cancer touches so many lives", said Superintendent of NICE Community Schools, Bryan DeAugustine.

Eating processed meat, such as sausage, ham, and bacon, but not red meat, on a regular basis is associated with a significantly increased risk of breast cancer, a review study suggests.

Li and colleagues analysed data from over 5,000 breast cancer patients diagnosed between 2001 and 2008 through the Stockholm-Gotland Regional Breast Cancer quality register. I was lucky that they found it in stage three and that it had not spread to other parts of my body. Some also expressed how helpful it was that their clergy prayed for them and reminded them "God was going to see me through". Men are included in these tests, too.

News about Nkhweng's diagnosis came as a shock to her family; they thought they were going to lose her.

She said she opted not to have a breast implant after her operation to show other people that she was still a woman.

According to the American Cancer Society, simply being a woman is the main risk factor for breast cancer.

"We also need to know which biomarkers can identify women with increased risk of aggressive interval cancers that are not usually detected during routine mammography screening", said senior study author Jingmei Li.

"One of the things we say to people is breast cancer doesn't just happen in October", said Susan Samaroo, the executive director of the Maurer Foundation, a breast cancer awareness nonprofit that focuses much of its outreach on Oceanside High School students.

Despite long-term cancer treatment symptoms including chemotherapy-related cognitive impairment [commonly known as chemo-brain], bone fractures from marrow breakdown in her foot, and frequent exhaustion, the former teacher dedicates her time and energy to her children and speaker events like Cones for a Cure. They sent me a lot of information and I had a person that if I had any questions she was right there for me.

"I call them and motivate them".

Nkhweng says she does not have any health problems and checks herself every morning. "Of those 41 thousand, 113 people will die", Barwick said.

"Sealy's generosity and coordination of this fundraising event has always been wonderful, and we want to thank them, the four designers and the members of the public who got behind the campaign", she says.

So the initiative by Zimpapers, of raising awareness through the Cancer Walk remains of paramount importance in fighting all forms of cancers and Dr Makarawo believes such initiatives by corporates are important in bridging the knowledge gap.
