Australian rising star Alex de Minaur was in great spirits following his easy NextGen ATP Finals win over Italian Liam Caruana 4-1 4-1 4-2.

"I never dropped my performance, I always stayed at 100 per cent nearly, so I am very satisfied that I managed to stay calm and play every point like a match point", said the Greek.

Tsitsipas won the first ATP Tour title of his career in Stockholm last month and his confidence has remained high, the Greek beating seventh seed Munar 4-3 (7-5), 4-3 (7-3), 3-4 (4-7), 4-2 in Milan. "Hopefully I can play like this in every match that I'll be playing here at the Next Gen ATP Finals".

It is Frances Tiafoe who tops Group A after the opening round, though, the American very much in form in his 4-1, 4-2, 2-4, 4-3 (12-10) win over Hubert Hurkacz.

Lewis Hamilton unimpressed by plans to add more races to F1 calendar
Coming here knowing that there is a possibility to win a race is obviously a good feeling". I'm always really open with my set-up so I will continue to do so".

Hurkacz will face top seed Tsitsipas on Thursday in the final day of round-robin action, while Tiafoe will take on Munar.

Rublev took the second to threaten a fightback, but he was outclassed in the end 4-1 3-4 (5-7) 4-1 4-2.

The Australian second seed required just 55 minutes on Tuesday to record a 4-1 4-1 4-2 victory over an opponent ranked nearly 600 places below him.

Wildcard Caruana, ranked at No. 622 in the world, won the opening game of the third set but got broken in the third game as world No. 31 de Minaur held on to his serve to clinch the win.
