Madhuri Dixit, Anushka Sharma to produce Netflix originals

15th August, produced by Madhuri Dixit, is set in a Mumbai chawl, and follows the course of a single day as its residents prepare for the flag-hoisting ceremony.

Park Min-young and Chang Hyuk-jae speak during the Netflix See What's Next event at the Marina Bay Sands on November 8, 2018 in Singapore. The film "is a period piece set in a vibrant atmosphere amidst age-old beliefs and superstitions". It's "about an under-confident but talented girl, sidestepped at every stage of her life, who seeks out an enigmatic con to help recover her stolen vehicle from a goat-loving, insane Mumbai gangster". In the process, she finds her confidence and place in the sun. The film will be directed by Sarthak Dasgupta and will tell the story about an emotionally troubled music teacher who finally comes to the terms with his bitterness with an estranged student who has become a renowned singer in Bollywood.

Along these, Hotel Mumbai, directed by Anthony Marras, Chopsticks, starring Abhay Deol and Mithika Parkar, Rajma Chawal, Music Teacher are a few films which were announced at the event. The film will follow the story of the victims and survivors of the devastating terrorist attacks on Mumbai in 2008. The film focuses on the relationship between three college graduates who all hail from smaller towns, and how their friendship is tested by money and the chaotic nature of the startup economy.

"Our first foray was Sacred Games, which found an audience across the world". The Indian titles will be announced at a later launch today.

The original series is called Typewriter, and is a supernatural drama involving a haunted house in Goa. We optioned the book because it is a very powerful story of a mother's quest to find her daughter in dystopic future.

At a panel discussion, Simran Sethi, director, global originals, India talked about another Indian original Leila, which has celebrated director Deepa Mehta and scriptwriter Urmi Juvekar onboard. "We're shooting in Delhi right now", she said, listing a cast that includes Huma Qureshi and Sanjay Suri. It was important for us to find a female director for this story. "More than half of Asian content hours viewed on Netflix this year are viewed outside the region, so we have confidence that our upcoming slate of Asian productions will find fans in their home countries and overseas".

SS Rajamouli's blockbuster film series, Baahubali will be a bigger spin- off project based on a prequel of the movie.

Firebrand will be produced by Priyanka Chopra.

The cast of upcoming series Baahubali: Before the Beginning, with Mrunal Thakur as Sivagami, Rahul Bose as Skandadasa, Atul Kulkarni, Vaquar Shaikh, Jameel Khan, Siddharth Arora and Anup Soni. "It will take fans into the backstories of the characters from the films, and we'll also be introducing new characters".

Netflix has previously released Sacred Games that garnered viewership across the globe, Ghoul, Brij Mohan Amar Rahe, Love Per Square Foot, Little Things and Brahman Naman from India.
