Queensland man $60m richer as solo victor of Powerball jackpot

The Gold Coast's lucky streak continues, with a sixth local taking out the lotto in less than five months!

The jackpot won by the Burleigh Heads retiree is the second largest division one prize ever won by a single entry in Australian lottery history.

"That's unbelievable. I'm a bit stunned".

"I'm just staggered. I don't know what to say".

The lucky victor told officials he wasn't expecting to get much sleep that night, thinking about all the things he could do with the money.

The flabbergasted Queenslander said he never imagined being a multimillionaire.

"It's a bit surreal really".

The Burleigh Heads man said he couldn't believe the news when he was told he scooped the only Division 1 entry, after picking up a 50 Game quick pick on a whim. To be honest, I've never thought about what I would do if I won $60 million.

'We sold a division one winning entry worth $1.3 million in Saturday Gold Lotto in March this year so we are thrilled to have sold another one.

'We will be celebrating the incredible year that has been in a few weeks at our Christmas party and this is another big thing for us to celebrate!'

WA did not miss out entirely, with one player winning a Division Two prize worth $381, 369.
