Players will become the Warriors of Darkness in the expansion, as opposed to the Warriors of Light. With the threat of war on the horizon, the Warrior of Light comes face-to-face with an old enemy.

Shadowbringers' title is evocative of an expansion that will darker in tone, with players finally taking the fight to the evil Garlean Empire that has been the chief villain of FF14 since before it relaunched back in 2013.

Blue Mage is the latest character job that'll be coming to Final Fantasy XIV in update 4.5 well before the launch of Shadowbringers. The Blue Mage will have a level cap of 50 but that'll be increased as time goes on. The Blue Mage also isn't tied to any previously released class. While details are scarce, it sounds like Blue Mages will be a class that you primarily level in solo dungeons designed exclusively for Blue Mages.

Additionally, two new zones were revealed: The Rak'Tika Greatwood, a vast forest with flet cities reminding me of Lorien from Lord of the Rings, and Amh Arang, a desert with ominous looking tilted towns.

This includes increased tree planting, improved forest management, restoration of peatlands , and shifts to low-carbon farming practices, which improve soil and water quality.

Viera have been arguably the most requested race ever since fans realized that Yoshida was willing to add new races into the game. These questions will be answered in the new expansion. Notably, it was confirmed that there would be a new race added into the game, but Yoshida was not ready to confirm what it is just yet.

Characters include Solus Zos Galvus, the first emperor, who will play a very important role in Shadowbringers. A "Trust" system will be added into the game, meaning that players will be able to run through dungeons with NPC characters, so subscribers can now enjoy the entirety of the expansion's story alone if they so desire. This won't replace the grouping system, but will give solo players more options to play the way they choose.

There'll be much more than expanded story content, however. Subscribers will also be able to start visiting different servers in their data centers, albeit some features will be restricted when visiting other worlds.

Anyone familiar with the Ivalice games in the series knows that can only mean one thing: Vieras are coming to Final Fantasy XIV. More details about the upcoming 4.5 patch as well as Shadowbringers will be discussed at that panel. Excited to see what the team has in store?
