"We digged deep and we did it", Ocasio-Cortez remarked.

"Ocasio-Cortez affirmed her position on social media, retweeting a post from a left-leaning organization that wrote "$0.

"Historically people tend to think that the environmental movement is homogenous", Ocasio-Cortez said, "and what we're actually finding is that among black and Latino communities, rates of environmentalism and environmental beliefs are actually much higher than average across the country". "This is about a New Deal for the United States of America".

Rep. -elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been mocked by her critics for her many gaffes, but her latest freakish comment is just confusing to many people.

"We did it when no one else thought we could". That's what we did when so many of us won an election this year.

"This is not just about a Green New Deal", she intoned.

A number of House Democrats said they support her pledge to reinstate a special committee on climate change after Democrats officially take control of the House in January.

The new law making it harder to stage a leadership spill
Arriving at Parliament House on Tuesday, Mr Abbott was asked whether he wished the rules were in place when he was overthrown. Nick Greiner, the federal president of the Liberal Party , said the new rules would stop arbitrary leadership changes.

She shocked the Democratic establishment in June by defeating Rep. Joe Crowley, a 10-term incumbent, in a primary election plagued by anemic turnout.

But Ocasio-Cortez's claim that their election victory is on par with the historical moments in American history appears to be exaggerated.

Yet she easily cruised to victory because her district doesn't have Republican presence and no viable opponent was put forward to oppose her candidacy.

But in an area of the Bronx and Queens that's home to 214,750 active registered Democratic voters, only 27,744 cast ballots in the primary.

Laura Manus, a leader of the Sunrise Movement, a group of young activists who endorsed and helped campaigns of candidates committed to confronting climate change, said the group would return to Washington, D.C. on December 10 to rally for the Green New Deal.

"Our lives are on the line", Ocasio-Cortez said at the news conference outside the Capitol.
