Surface Go Holiday ad takes a direct shot at the iPad

There's little doubt in anyone's mind that Microsoft made the Surface Go to compete with the iPad, as well as the Acer Chromebook Tab 10, in the education space.

The Surface Go runs Windows 10 and has most of the same apps available to it as a desktop computer, something Apple's iPad can not boast. The girl sings that she is now 10, has big dreams, and so she needs a real computer which she can use for coding and other tasks.

Of course, when looking to articulate reasons why the Surface Go is more of a computer than Apple's iPad, the girl doesn't really have much to say.

The ad, which is an amusing musical adaptation of 'Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer,' points out the iPad Pro's limitations when it comes to the tablet-laptop hybrid device acting as a comprehensive Mac or Windows 10 device replacement.

Kevin Hart Confirms He's Hosting the Oscars With the Most Heartwarming Message
Hart announced via Instagram on Tuesday that he will be hosting the prestigious event, which is in its 91st year. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences followed up with a tweet that welcomed him "to the family".

Of course, the reasons the girl gives are hardly convincing, but that's not really the objective of the ad anyway.

As always, it's unclear how many people out in the real world will see the ad and actually reconsider their purchase or general choice of portable computing software platform. The iPad is one of the few tablets to enjoy any kind of growth this year - the market as a whole was down 13.5 percent during the second quarter of 2018. This is advertising, after all, and the overarching message is clearly more important than specific details.

Apple really annoyed the snot out of people around this time past year with its condescending and downright annoying commercial for the iPad.

Microsoft is once again poking fun at Apple's iPad Pro in a new commercial.
