More information about the Nokia 8.1 is revealed

HMD Global will launch a new Nokia phone at an event in Dubai at 8:30 pm IST.

The Nokia 8.1 strives to fit in as a successor of the Nokia 7 Plus. Nokia has had a lot of success in India with the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 8 and so on. Luckily Chetan Cale, a gifted photographer and member of Nokia Community, was there to take some shots with it. The smartphone is set to go on sale in the country from December 7, but it's already up for pre-order. Both the camera sensors are powered by ZEISS Optics.

The Nokia 8.1 is an excellent mid-range smartphone from the Finnish company as it sports Nokia' signature design and capable hardware. It also comes with support for Google ARCore.

Since the phone is only just venturing out to the West, allow us a quick introduction.

The device is expected to pack a Snapdragon 710 processor instead of a Snapdragon 835 chipset that was found on the flagship level Nokia 8. Also on offer is 64GB of in-built storage which can be expanded up to 400GB via a microSD card.

In the camera department, Nokia 8.1 will sport a primary 12-megapixel sensor, which offers 1.4-micron pixels, dual-pixel autofocus, f/1.8 aperture, and OIS. -Ahead of the launch of the Nokia 8.1, official promos of the same has been leaked in which the device was showcased to flaunt a duel-lens camera setup at the back. The smartphone is fuelled by a 3,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. Up front, there's a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The main sensor is a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor paired with aa 13MP depth sensor.

The new Nokia 8.1 will be available in three colours; Blue Silver, Steel Copper and Iron Steel. The rear camera comes with features such as Optical Image Stabilization, Electronic Image Stabilization, dual PDAF, AI scene detection and optimization for low-light photography. This is an Android One phone now running Pie, but it will receive OS updates for 2 years and security updates for 3 years.

The Nokia 8.1 does indeed contain a 3.5mm headphone jack.
