Belichick's club hasn't finished second in the division since 2008 and can clinch its 10th consecutive AFC East crown with a win in Sunday's "hat and T-shirt" game against the Miami Dolphins. And there is a good chance they could be without their best player as they aim to make a final push.

It is likely Howard, the National Football League leader with seven interceptions this season, will not play for the Dolphins (6-6) in Sunday's game against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots (10-3) in Hard Rock Stadium.

Coach Adam Gase announced Wednesday the corner is week-to-week with a knee injury.

Howard picked Tom Brady off twice in last year's meeting in South Florida, but got torched in the Week 4 matchup in New England this year. "We can't put him in a bad position to where his movement isn't what it needs to be to play at the level that he wants to play at".

Howard took a hit to the left knee after being tackled on a return for his second interception against Buffalo.

With the problems surrounding that final he is very keen on playing in the Bernabeu stadium in a lovely country like Spain.

"We're going to do what's best for him".

When asked if Howard had a surgical procedure on his injured knee, Gase declined to comment.

"This is the first time that I would say that he's not being very compliant with me, " Gase said with a laugh.

As for Howard the injury isn't considered significant but if he is in fact week to week then he could potentially miss next weeks game against the Minnesota Vikings as well.
