David Millane arrived in New Zealand on Friday morning, after the family raised the alert earlier in the week, having not heard from Grace since Saturday (December 1) - which he said was unusual.

"Detectives have assessed Grace's belongings that were found at the backpackers where she was staying", Detective Inspector Scott Beard, Auckland City Police said in a statement on Saturday.

Police have not yet found the body of the 22-year-old from Wickford in Essex.

DI Beard said on Saturday: "Sadly the evidence we have gathered at this point of the inquiry has established that this is a homicide".

"The family are devastated, everybody who is a parent out there will understand what this family is going through".

A 26-year-old man is now being held in connection with the murder, Det Insp Beard added.

CCTV cameras captured Millane at the CityLife Hotel on Queen St at 9.41pm on December 1.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has seen any items matching this description over the past week.

Police said enquiries into Grace's disappearance have not led to further confirmed sightings of her.

Grace Millane's watch is a pale pink Casio Baby-G.

The sequel nature of New Dawn is now confirmed, but, Ubisoft clarifies, it's not an official Far Cry 6 release. I can tell you that there are some familiar faces, aged 17 years, from Far Cry 5 .

A 26-year-old man - who was with Miss Millane before she went missing - is being held in Auckland in connection with the murder.

Grace Millane, 22, was last seen entering the CityLife hotel in Auckland with a male, The Guardian reported.

Police were continuing to view "hundreds" of hours of CCTV footage, and the scene examination of the CityLife hotel was still underway, police said on Saturday afternoon.

She had booked to stay at the Base Backpackers hostel in central Auckland until 8 December.

He wouldn't speculate where Grace was killed, Beard said.

"Many of these calls have been from members of the public, offering accommodation and assistance to the Millane family".

Ms Millane left the United Kingdom six weeks ago to travel the world after finishing university. Grace has never been out of contact for this amount of time and is usually in daily contact with either her mother, myself or her two brothers.

He added the "thoughts of all New Zealanders will be with Grace's family tonight".

This was her first time travelling overseas alone.
