A deal is expected to be completed once the transfer window opens next month although the prospects of Steffen coming directly into Pep Guardiola's squad are likely to hinge on whether the 23 year-old can obtain a work permit.

Manchester City are ready to welcome to England Columbus Crew goalkeeper Zack Steffen.

A work permit seems unlikely right away, and so the highly-rated goalkeeper will nearly certainly head out on loan, with Patrick Vieira's Nice a possible destination.

Girona, the Spanish club owned by the same parent company as City, is perhaps Steffen's most likely destination.

PGA moving headquarters to Texas
The PGA of America will invest $30 million to build its 100,000-square-foot global headquarters and education facility. The hotel, convention center, and other facilities are expected to open within six months of that date .

As reported by Telegraph Sport last month, City are eager to sign the reigning MLS goalkeeper of the year.

Steffen, who began his career with Freiberg in 2015, has seen his stock rise considerably in the past two seasons and was named 2018 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.

The 23-year-old, who is expected to cost around £7m, made the first of his six worldwide appearances for the United States earlier this year.

With his former Columbus Crew manager Gregg Berhalter having been appointed the new United States head coach, Steffen will fancy his chances of holding down a regular place in the national team.
