If confirmed by the Senate, the former Fox News anchor would replace Nikki Haley.

Nikki Haley has held the United Nations post since the beginning of Trump's administration and said she would stay in the job through the end of the year.

Others, including former USA ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, criticized the choice.

"We guide all of our students to find their passion and set out to achieve their personal and professional goals".

He told reporters at the White House that she is 'very talented, very smart, very quick. Nauert had little foreign policy experience before taking the podium as spokeswoman for the State Department.

Nauert's confirmation could hinge on her performance at the hearing. If her much more recent experience at the State Department provides such rich fodder for critics, it portends a hard confirmation process ahead. "We need a seasoned, steady and strong voice who understands the subtleties of multinational diplomacy", he said.

Of the hilly state's 13 districts, only seven have movie theatres and Kedarnath has been banned in all of them. Protesters claim the movie's tagline "Love is a pilgrimage" hurts Hindus' religious sentiments.

With her vast expertise in TV journalism, including eight years at Fox News and at least three at ABC, Ms Nauert certainly knows how to behave in public and deliver neat and well-targeted speeches. But since Republicans will continue to hold a majority in the Senate when the new Congress convenes in January, experts say she is likely to be confirmed. Material from Globe wire services was used in this report.

At the time, the tensions sparked fears the back-and-forth could trigger a war with North Korea after it tested missiles and nuclear weapons that it claimed could hit the U.S. However, Haley claimed Trump's rhetoric boosted her negotiating power at the United Nations and enabled her to pass three Security Council strict sanctions against North Korea. "Ambassador Haley was a far more high-level figure, particularly early in the administration". However, she quickly learned key issues and how the United Nations operates.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, a U.S. diplomat said, "Nauert seems to be a compromise candidate of two powerful foreign policy mavens of the Trump administration - Mike Pompeo and Bolton".

As a New York-based anchor and correspondent at the Fox News Channel, Nauert oversaw breaking news, anchored programs, covered global and domestic crises and interviewed senior elected and military officials.

With no policymaking or negotiating experience, and after 20 months as a spokeswoman for the state department, Nauert will take her seat on the security council alongside counterparts with decades of experience.

By not selecting a veteran foreign policy or national security hand who might push back on his decisions or try to push him toward another option, Trump is making clear he is the diplomat-in-chief.
