Early Saturday morning, the man, who police now identify as Roberto Daniel Arroyo, spent about three hours licking and milling around a Salinas yard.

The freakish display of doorbell-lovin' was caught on surveillance camera while Sylvia and Dave Dungan were out of town, but their children were inside the home at the time. The noise did not wake them up.

"I thought, boy there's a lot of traffic".

The incident happened around 5:00 am. "My son doesn't get home until 6 a.m", Sylvia recalled to KION 546. '"Well, then, who the heck is that?"'

A family in Salinas called police after their security system caught the man going to town on their doorbell. "This just kind of re-enforces how important it is to have security within your home".

Although the incident sparked concern among neighbors, Dungan maintained a good sense of humor throughout the ordeal.

Arroyo is said to have gone to a neighbor's house as well.

They added that he appeared to "relieve himself" in the Dungan's garden and entered several other neighbours' yards.

Public Information Officer Miguel Cabrera described Arroyo as "transient", without a permanent address, noting he wasn't arrested after police questioned him but that the case had been forwarded to the district attorney's office. They are still looking for the man, but say he could face a number of charges.
