Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and wife divorcing after 25 years

"If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all over again".

And there may never have been more money than in this case.

Bezos, whose company became the biggest in the world this week by overtaking rivals Microsoft and Apple, has a net worth of around $160bn.

In 2013 the billionaire announced that he had bought the Washington Post newspaper. TMZ is reporting that Jeff Bezos has zero regrets about the way things unfolded 25 years ago when he and MacKenzie exchanged wedding vows. Buzz is that this divorce, therefore, will be a very costly affair. The couple own a home in a wealthy Seattle suburb within the county.

Questions loom over how Mr. Bezos' 16 percent stake in the Amazon will be divided among the future former spouses. They have not yet formally filed for divorce.

Why are Jeff and MacKenzie Bezos getting divorced? Her first novel was "The Testing of Luther Albright". So long as the company is growing and returning profits, he'll probably maintain their confidence, though a settlement could potentially put a dent in such Bezos side projects as the space exploration company Blue Origin.

The company has since expanded into an e-commerce giant.
