There should be another movie on ‘The Disastrous Prime Minister’: Mamata Banerjee

Love them, hate them but you can't just ignore their stellar performance in The Accidental Prime Minister as per Twitterati, who are lauding Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna ever since the movie released today. The high court on January 7 had disposed of the writ petition against the trailer but left it open for petitioner to file a public interest litigation (PIL).

Besides Kher, who has essayed the role of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the movie, others named in the complaint include actor Akshaye Khanna, who plays Singh's former media advisor Sanjaya Baru, on whose book the movie is based. A movie titled an Accidental Prime Minister has been made keeping the elections in mind. The film released on 11 January 2019, seeking much more attention after coming to the news of the controversies happening.

In 2016, Volkswagen pleaded guilty to criminal charges and agreed to pay a $2.8 billion penalty to settle government lawsuits. The settlement is not expected to outline any criminal charges, according to ABC News .

The filing of appeal in the top court came hours after a division bench of the high court dismissed the PIL, which had sought a ban on the film and its trailer alleging it defamed the constitutional post of the Prime Minister. He has also complained against the film's director and producer.

Other releases like Viswasam and Petta are not going to affect this movie but Vicky Kaushal's Uri which is also becoming popular by its thrilling trailer can affect the box office collection of the movie. Said to be a film based on the former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh the film is a biopic.

It alleged that promo of the film showed that the movie has been produced "simply to damage the image" of Singh.
