Lawyer: R. Kelly denies all sexual misconduct allegations

Steve Greenberg, an attorney for Kelly, said in an interview on Friday that there was no evidence to support the accusations contained in the documentary, calling it a "for-profit hit piece full of falsities, full of mistakes".

Earlier this week, Mr Greenberg confirmed that R.Kelly Wednesday late singer Aaliyah, who died in a place crash in 2001, when she was 15 years old and he was 27, saying she lied about her age and likening their marriage to that of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, who was 21 when they married in 1967. Kelly's estranged daughter, Joann Kelly, whose stage name is Buku Abi, called him a "monster" in a post on Instagram on Thursday, though she did not make any allegations. "The man was not operating a harem, or a sex cult, or holding people hostage or anything like that".

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office did not immediately return our request for comment.

Kelly, whose given name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was acquitted in 2008 on charges of videotaping himself having sex with a girl who prosecutors allege was as young as 13.

Even as he denied the allegations, Greenberg said he didn't know details about them.

Several other women also came forward with graphically detailed accounts of their experiences with the artist while they were underage, which has led to multiple celebrities publicly denouncing Kelly.

The lawyer claimed women have "come on to" Kelly in the hopes of kick-starting their own careers, only to become "disgruntled" when their plans didn't pan out as planned.

"The police found nothing because there's nothing wrong", he said.

"Now, some producer went running around and solicited all these people, did a Jerry Springer-esqe show and there is all this uproar", he said.

While Greenberg didn't confirm any next steps for Kelly, he did say that his client is likely to speak to the public soon. On Jan. 7, the day after the series ended, Kelly's songs were played on radio 198,000 times.
