Jayme Closs, a 13-year-old northwest Wisconsin girl who went missing in October, has been found alive.

Elizabeth Smart, who was 14 when she was kidnapped at knifepoint from her Salt Lake City home in 2002, told The Associated Press that everyone endures different mental and psychological trauma after kidnappings, but Jayme will have to confront the fact that there "is no going back to the way things were".

"Jayme is safe!" Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said.

The sheriff also said that Patterson worked in the same Jennie-O turkey plant as Jayme's parents for less than two days over three years ago.

Jayme Closs' suspected kidnapper had no prior criminal record, however, detectives are now looking into his brother who was convicted of sexually assaulting a minor. Did he take things with her? While the world may wonder what she went through in captivity, typically if a minor has suffered abuse their identities are kept private. "Did he buy food?" he said.

She wrote in part - "It was great to know she was next to me all night, what a great feeling to have her home". As a family we will get through all of the healing process Jayme has.

The 21-year-old suspect has been arrested and will appear in court on Monday.

Naiberg, Jayme's grandfather, said he spent a few hours with her on Friday.

It's the end of an ordeal the Barron County community has been searching for.

The sheriff calls it "a very well-planned out attack".

Patterson took such measures as shaving his head beforehand to avoid leaving evidence at the scene, the sheriff said.

Authorities have said they don't believe Patterson crossed paths with Jayme's parents there. Investigators are trying to determine whether he worked at another job in the area.

Closs vanished October 15 after her parents were gunned down inside their home in Barron County, located about 80 miles northeast of Minneapolis. A 911 call was placed from Denise Closs's cell phone. Once the police arrived and confirmed her identity, they left with Jayme.

During the intense, nationwide investigation for Jayme, officials from the FBI, state patrol and local law enforcement received thousands of tips.

Jayme escaped Thursday from a cabin in Gordon, Wisconsin, where she said he had imprisoned her. Police arrested Patterson minutes later.

Jeanne Nutter, who has a cabin in the Gordon area, was walking her dog on an isolated road around 4 p.m. when she saw Jayme out in the cold around dusk. Nutter said Jayme did not have a coat or gloves.

For those that didn't even know Jayme, they're even relieved to welcome her home.

"We did a neighborhood canvass, and there were other houses around where Jayme was".

She said, 'I'm Jayme, ' the woman told CNN affiliate WCCO. She told cops she met him three weeks earlier on an "online chat site".

Jake Thomas Patterson has been jailed on kidnapping and homicide charges.

The first published photo of Jayme on Friday shows her smiling with her dog, Molly, and her aunt.

Her aunt said Jayme slept well.

Jayme's aunt, Jen Smith, said on Saturday on ABC's Good Morning America that when she heard that her niece had been found alive, "I just cried lots of happy tears".
