Ariana Grande will not perform at, or even attend, this year's Grammy Awards ceremony.

According to Variety, the 25-year-old American singer won't be performing and may not even attend the event which takes place on Sunday, 10 February.

According to insiders close to the situation, Ariana Grande was offended when the Grammy committee objected to her performing "7 Rings" at the ceremony.

They say she felt "insulted" after the producers initially refused to allow her perform "7 Rings," her recent number 1 hit from the forthcoming album "Thank U, Next".

Oscars 2019 show nets Brie Larson, Daniel Craig as presenters
The role of anchoring the Oscars has thrown up problems for a number of hosts since then. The nominees took part in the annual Oscars luncheon and group photo on Monday.

A Grande no-show isn't exactly good business for the Grammys as she's now the reigning queen of the Billboard charts with the number one song in the country, "7 Rings" with "thank u, next" trailing not too far behind. The Recording Academy reportedly wouldn't allow Lorde to give a solo performance of a song off her nominated record "Melodrama" at last year's ceremony despite giving a slot to all the male artists up for album of the year.

"Sweetener" and the songs "Thank U, Next" and "7 Rings" all smashed Spotify records, with "7 Rings" breaking the streaming service's record for most plays within a 24-hour period with almost 15 million.

Her 7 Rings song is the latest single from her new album Thank U, Next, which will be released on Friday, just two days before the Grammy's air from the Staples Center.

The pop star has been nominated for two awards at the Grammys.
