The Post report emerged just days after Warren issued an apology to the Cherokee Nation for taking a DNA test in order to prove her Indigenous heritage. "I am also sorry for not being more mindful about this decades ago". President Donald Trump frequently deploys a racial slur to criticize Warren. Warren said. "There really is an important distinction of tribal citizenship".

This is a far bigger problem for Warren than her ridiculous DNA-test fiasco, with its evidence that she might be 1/1,024th Native.

Warren told the Post that, in apologizing to the Cherokee Nation, she was also addressing having identified herself as Indigenous while working in academia.

Shortly after Warren concluded her session with reporters, Smith said that her actions amounted to cultural appropriation.

Recounting a conversation she had last week with Chief Baker, Warren said she told him "I am sorry, that I extended confusion about tribal citizenship and tribal sovereignty".

Warren's claims have long drawn taunts from Republicans who suggested she was lying about them - including President Trump, who has called her "Pocahontas".

The functionality was originally introduced for Facebook executives in 2014, after Sony Pictures' email accounts were hacked. Today, Facebook announced that the new unsend option is now rolling out to the Messenger app on Android and iOS .

McDaniel reproduced sections of the Texas Disciplinary Rules Of Professional Conduct to emphasize her claim. While her competitors are fine-tuning their messages and trying to demonstrate competence and polish, Warren has repeatedly opened herself up to criticism by relitigating the past. She said she wants to defend Obamacare and "find a system of Medicare available to all".

"Senator Warren has reached out to us and has apologized to the tribe", Julie Hubbard, the Executive Director of Cherokee Nation communications said in a statement provided to ABC News.

The 2020 presidential hopeful had denied using her identity to advance professionally after it was revealed that her previous employers, including the University of Pennsylvania Law School, touted her Native American identity when announcing her hiring.

Under race, the space is marked "American Indian". "Nothing about my background ever had anything to do with any job I got in any place", she explained, according to ABC News. She is expected to formally launch her campaign on Saturday. Warren reported herself as minority in the directory every year starting in 1986 - when AALS first included a list of minority law professors - to 1995, when her name dropped off the list.

Warren's ethnic heritage has always been a partisan trip line. Above the lines for race, national origin and handicap status, the card says, "The following information is for statistical purposes only and will not be disclosed to any person or organization without the express written consent of the attorney". And, she now admits, there may be other such documents out there.
