'Game of Thrones' Invades Bud Light Super Bowl LIII Commercial

The commercial begins with a large barrel of corn syrup being delivered to Bud Light.

The New England Patriots set a few records last night when they snatched the Super Bowl from the Los Angeles Rams: they tied for most Bowls won, at six; and Tom Brady netted the most Super Bowl wins ever for a player.

Much of the reaction on social media to the Bud Light ads suggests most people didn't know beer contained corn syrup at all.

"America's corn farmers are disappointed in you", it said. We're all presuming the Bud Knight is now dead.

"Anheuser-Busch fully supports corn growers and will continue to invest in the corn industry", Anheuser-Busch said in a statement emailed to McClatchy.

The Bud Light Dilly Dilly characters had two appearances at this year's Super Bowl, although their second ad came with a twist.

The Bud Light crew goes full "Lord of the Kings" and travels across the land to deliver the corn syrup to Miller Lite.

Some observers are wondering if the ad would be effective.

And MillerCoors responded with a comparison of its own. But Bud Light only called attention to the use of corn syrup rather than high fructose corn syrup, which has had some of its glucose converted into fructose.

"How is Bud Light now producing more Game of Thrones content than George R.R. Martin?"
