The woman who was allegedly filmed in a video throwing a chair from a balcony onto the Gardiner Expressway over the weekend has surrendered to police.

The station says that the woman is facing charges of mischief-endangering life, mischief to property and common nuisance.

Even if it was a random act, the woman could still be charged with mischief endangering life, Hopkinson said.

Detective Todd Higo said Marcella Zoia would appear in court later Wednesday.

"Once we had known who she was, investigators reached out to her and they started to make arrangements for her to turn herself in".

A woman is in custody after being accused of throwing a chair off of a high-rise apartment balcony on the morning of February 9 in Toronto.

While the video ends before the chair hits the ground, police said the chair was found damaged "almost beyond recognition" at the entrance of a nearby building.
