Fortnite's Season 8 battle pass will be free

Save the world players get access to a new Yeoman Sniper, plus a new series of weekly challenges.

You can check out the full patch notes for Fortnite's v7.40 update here, and take a look at the cracks forming on the Battle Royale map in the Twitter clip below. Up first is "Catch", which limits the weapon set to throwables only.

Starting today, you get limited time gifting until 22 February, and today you will also be able to send the Heartspan Glider to a special player until 15 February, 7 pm ET. In this rather novel mode, all guns have been removed, leaving players with nothing but grenades and other types of throwable at their disposal. Until midnight United Kingdom tomorrow, you can send the Heartspan Glider to another player for free to make them feel special on this love-centric holiday.

Three new Overtime Challenges have just been unlocked in Fortnite. Alongside a number of changes to existing weapons, the most notable of which sees the Bush consumable given a defensive overhaul - in as much as it can now absorb one instance of damage before it's destroyed.

Creative mode now allows players to resize props to better fit their design ideas, which is pretty neat. Here are the new challenges and rewards. There's also a powerful new sniper rifle, the Yeoman's Rifle.

Along with the overtime challenges, a massive changelog for the 7.40 patch is included on Epic's website.
