At the very least, it does look to resemble numerous core functions of Octopath Traveler as a legitimate, fully-fledged single-player RPG onto the mobile platform.

Square Enix announced Octopath Traveler: Conquerors of the Continent as a new single-player RPG for smartphones, and it is a prequel of the 2018 Switch RPG with the same familiar "HD-2D" graphics.

Octopath Traveler: Champion of the Continent will release for iOS and Android devices in Japan at some point in 2019, we'll keep you updated when any more news becomes available about a Western release.

In his Octopath Traveler review, Peter Brown said the game "thrives on its character progression and the temptations of high-level challenges and rewards". Octopath Traveler looks to follow that same logic.

Traveling to Europe will get a little more hard for Americans
There has been some confusion online, however, after a few news outlets referred to ETIAS as a "visa". Americans traveling to Europe will soon have to add a new item to their packing lists.

The original Octopath Traveler game put you in the role of eight different characters with a variety of different jobs, ranging from a merchant to a ranger to a warrior and more. It's set in Orsterra before the events of the first game, which we also find out has passed the 1.5 million mark in terms of shipped units and digital sales. It will be titled Octopath Traveler: Tairiku no Hasha, which translates into "Champions of the Continent".

It will take place several years before the original game and gives you the option to play through the story of one of eight unique protagonists. Not only that, but a fresh game in the series, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, now in development for mobile platforms.

Although a port would have been entirely sensible, Square Enix has elected to mix things up instead.

Some fans were vocal on Twitter about their disappointment in the prequel being a mobile game and not a full-fledged title for console.
