James Gunn is the guy who directed the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies for Disney, movies that made a combined total of $1.6 billion and are beloved by millions. Multiple reports confirm that Gunn is now officially back in the director's chair for this next installment in the comic book franchise - a huge reversal of Disney's decision that sparked a passionate outcry from Guardians cast members.

James is also writing and directing the Suicide Squad sequel for DC, but Marvel has agreed to commence production on Guardians after he's done with the sequel.

What do you think about Disney's decision to bring Gunn back to Guardians?

Gunn was sacked by the Mouse House last summer after a series of controversial old tweets from the filmmaker surfaced. Disney, a family company that doesn't truck with that sort of thing, fired Gunn, who was immediately contrite and took full responsibility for his dumb bad tweets.

Two teams are going out and the Europa League is giving us a big opportunity also to take one way to go to the Champions League. The ill-tempered feel to the match continued throughout a nervy second half as a number of strong challenges went unpunished.

Gunn earlier apologized for the tweets, which he called "unfortunate efforts to be provocative". Gunn expressed remorse over the tweets, and through his meetings with Horn reportedly showed those were not who he was anymore. "As I've developed as a person, so has my work and my humor", he said in a statement at the time.

Marvel Studios put the film on hold after social media posts were found where Gunn made light of paedophilia, rape and the 9/11 terror attack. I deeply appreciate Disney's decision and I am excited to continue making films that investigate the ties of love that bind us all.

And regardless of whether Gunn would of been directing, Pratt said in February that the film would be going forward using Gunn's script. "My days saying something just because it's shocking and trying to get a reaction are over". The first two films have made more than $1.5 billion U.S. in worldwide ticket sales. While it was initially meant to debut in May 2020 prior to Gunn's firing, Gunn has since signed on to direct Warner Bros.' Suicide Squad sequel, reportedly titled The Suicide Squad.

Guardians 3 was originally scheduled to be filming now and released in 2020.
