DeMarcus Cousins leads Golden State Warriors over Houston Rockets with dominant performance

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 54 points on 20-of-43 shooting, with Thompson tallying 30 and five 3-pointers.

But that was not to be, as DeMarcus Cousins turned his finest performance of the season so far and helped the Warriors beat the Rockets 106-104, which given the balance of play reflects unfairly on the Warriors who could've won this by a log bigger margin if they hadn't considered the game won, half way through the final quarter.

Klay finished with 40.2 FanDuel points. Clint Capela posted a double-double (13 points, 13 rebounds) but struggled to defend Cousins on the block.

Golden State, which had lost six of 10 overall, is 4 1/2 games ahead of Houston atop the Western Conference standings.

But the Warriors, a Western Conference-best 46-21, bounced back behind 3-point sharpshooter Thompson, who hit 12-of-23 from the floor including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc.

"This is the team we should have had all year and it just didn't materialize", coach Mike D'Antoni said.

Justise Winslow scored 16 points to lead seven double-figure scorers for Miami in a 108-74 rout of visiting Detroit. Nor was DeMarcus Cousins available for the Warriors' first two meetings against the Rockets this season, while he was still recovering from the torn Achilles tendon that made it possible for Golden State to add an All-Star big man for the taxpayer's exception. "Tonight, we lose by two, just because they were a little better in the details".

Trump issues veto over border emergency declaration
The House is not expected to have the two-thirds of the chamber's support needed to override the President's veto. Congress can veto Mr Trump's veto, but it does not look likely that they will have the necessary votes to do so.

Steve Kerr has said for the past few weeks that it's time for Golden State to up its defensive intensity as they prepare for the postseason, and they certainly did it on Wednesday. It was his ninth double-double of the season, although it was just his third such performance since February 1. "I mean, listen, it's one loss", Harden said.

Thompson, Cousins and Curry were the only Warriors to score in double figures.

Harden was unhappy that they didn't play good defense until late in the game.

Steph Curry pushed the lead back out to three with a pair of free throws with 8 seconds left.

The Rockets also have gotten a boost recently from the strong play of Eric Gordon. So it's good to have multiple guys that can step up every night.

"When Kevin is out, we don't have the luxury of throwing to him and getting 30 points", Thompson said after the Warriors snapped the Rockets' nine-game winning streak. On Sunday night the Suns went into Oracle Arena and defeated Golden State for the first time since a 107-95 victory on November 9, 2014. But to suggest that one of the 29 other teams has what it takes to corral this historic juggernaut at its best is foolish.

Paul sank two free throws with 47 seconds remaining to pull Houston within 104-100, then completed a 3-point play after being fouled by Andre Iguodala to pull the Rockets within 104-103 with 10 seconds remaining. We're all learning. Me, too.
