Borussia Dortmund's victory on Saturday meant Bayern Munich had to win to reclaim top spot in the Bundesliga and the Bavarians responded with an emphatic 6-0 thumping of Mainz on Sunday.

The 18-year-old Canadian, who moved to Bayern from MLS in January, has yet to start for the German champs.

Poland striker Robert Lewandowski, the Bundesliga's top scorer, claimed his 18th league goal this season, tapping in a David Alaba cross on three minutes.

Bayern, who are tied on 60 points with Dortmund but have seven-goal cushion over their rivals, travel to Freiburg next after the worldwide break.

Former Vancouver Whitecaps phenom Alphonso Davies has his first Bundesliga goal for Bayern Munich.

James grabbed another two goals within a four-minute spell early in the second half, before Davies, who came on with just over half an hour remaining, scored with a volley on the rebound after Mainz goalkeeper Florian Mueller denied Lewandowski.

Oil Markets In Limbo Ahead Of OPEC Meeting

Martin Hinteregger's first-half strike was enough for Eintracht Frankfurt to consolidate fifth place with a 1-0 win over last-placed Nuremberg. We've scored a lot of goals in our last few games in the Bundesliga, so I'm happy about that'.

Frankfurt face Benfica over two legs in the Europa League quarter-finals after beating Inter Milan 1-0 last Thursday, and a superb pass from in-form striker Luka Jovic, on loan from the Portuguese side, led to Hinteregger's victor.

Max Kruse opened and finished the scoring for Werder Bremen to beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 away and boost its European qualification hopes on Sunday.

Leverkusen's Jamaican winger Leon Bailey blasted home a free-kick on 75 minutes, but with the hosts chasing an equaliser, Bremen counter-attacked and Kruse cut in to drill home his second in the 95th minute.

Leverkusen are in sixth position with 42 points from 26 matches, whilst Bremen occupy eighth with 39 points from the same number of matches.
