Earlier this month, Xiaomi also said that the Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro had crossed the milestone of 4 million units sold globally as of March 29. And it seems the company is hungry for more. This hints that the company has already started working on a smartphone with 32 MP selfie snapper. The reason it is in the news of late is because of a post by Redmi's President Lu Weibing took to Chinese social media website Weibo to ask a question to Redmi fans.

With the Redmi Note 7 Pro (Review) that features upgraded specifications and a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel sensor, Xiaomi chose to launch it first in India last month, and then make it available in China eventually. Now, it is being speculated that the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Y3 will come with a 32MP selfie camera. This could be launched as the Redmi Y3, taking over from the Redmi Y2 that was launched a year ago.

In the recent few months, we have seen quite a lot of smartphones launch with a 32MP selfie camera like Huawei P30, Huawei P30 Lite, Huawei P30 Pro and Vivo V15 Pro. It also comes in a 4GB RAM/64GB variant priced at ₹11,999.

Except for the camera, last year's Redmi Y series smartphone offered a premium looking plastic build-quality with a dual primary camera setup and an 18:9 aspect ratio display. The sensor also comes with support for real-time HDR mode. There is a good chance that this new handset could be the new Redmi Y3.
