Australia and New Zealand cricket teams had already announced their 15 members squad for Cricket World Cup 2019. The Committee of Administrators along with office bearers had decided on the date during a meeting last week.

MSK Prasad addressed the reporters while naming the squad.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) started two-day players' fitness tests for the 2019 World Cup from Monday at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya, who missed a lot of matches in early 2019 due to "Koffee with Karan" controversy, were selected in the squad.

Virat Kohli (capt), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Vijay Shankar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami.

The much-debated number four slot, whether Pant or Karthik go as the second wicket-keeper behind Dhoni and finally, if the team will pick a fourth pacer or an additional third spinner considering that the wickets will be on the slower side at this time of the year in England. "That's the reason we went with Dinesh Karthik", after a brief selection meeting which also included Indian captain Virat Kohli at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Monday afternoon.

It said that US, Brazil, Russia , UK, Australia, Ghana, Sudan and South Sudan will be the main drivers of supply growth this year. Output declines in OPEC because of the supply pact, plus the sanctions on Venezuela and Iran , have exceeded expectations.

Prasad said that Vijay Shankar, an all-rounder, provides a "three-dimensional" option to Ambati Rayudu in the number 4 position.

"What Vijay Shankar offers is three dimensional", Prasad said. We are looking at him at no. 4 to begin with.

"The point that was discussed is that Vijay Shankar will bat at no.4 like Kedar Jadhav and we also have a role for KL somewhere at the top of the order".

"And in the second part of the tournament, when the wickets will be more dry, we felt Jadeja will be handy".

As expected, the pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah made it to the squad and there were no surprises in that aspect.
