Sudanese protest organisers Monday called on their supporters to mobilise outside the army headquarters, saying there was an attempt to "disperse the sit-in" where thousands have camped out for 10 days.

An immediate transfer of power to a transitional civilian government to govern for a four-year term, followed by elections.

Omar al-Bashir was forced out of power in a military coup last week, after protests against his three-decade rule engulfed Sudan. But his departure in a coup failed to satisfy the protesters, who have pushed for justice for Bashir-era officials.

Protesters said they had joined hands and formed a ring around the sit-in area after troops had gathered on three sides and tractors were preparing to remove stone and metal barricades.

Some of the most prominent SPA leaders, most of whom are in their 20s and 30s and were detained until after Bashir's ouster, spoke at the news conference.

SPA representatives also renewed calls for the head of the judiciary and his deputies and public prosecutor to be removed. They demanded the dissolution of Bashir's National Congress Party and said they received affirmation from the TMC that the party will not participate in a transitional government being negotiated.

On Saturday, Salah Abdallah Mohamed Saleh, better known as Salah Gosh, resigned as head of NISS.

But demonstrators have pledged to remain on the streets until the military hands power to a civilian administration.

"We are adhering to our commitment to the coalition, and our forces will remain until the coalition fulfills its goals", Hemedti said.

"We call on our people to come immediately to the sit-in area to protect our revolution".

"The decision whether to extradite [Bashir] to ICC will be made by a popularly elected government and not the transitional military council", military council member Jalaluddin Sheikh told journalists during a visit to the Ethiopian capital. The demonstrations against longtime leader al-Bashir led to his removal by the military last week.

The statement said Gen. Hashem Babakr was appointed the joint chief of staff, replacing Gen. Kamal Abdel-Marouf al-Mahi, who was ousted along with Defense Minister Awad ibn Ouf a day after al-Bashir's overthrow.

Bashir, his former interior minister Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein, and Ahmed Haroun, the former head of the ruling party, will be charged with corruption and the death of protesters, two sources with direct knowledge of events told CNN.

Siddiq said on Twitter he had also requested the reform of the NISS and the release of detainees, as well as the cancellation of all bureaucracy and permits for delivering humanitarian aid.
