"If anyone thinks I should apologize for writing a bestselling book, I'm sorry, I'm not going to do it", Sanders said in a fiery Fox News town hall Monday night.

During a town hall Monday with Bernie Sanders, anchor Bret Baier asked the audience a question about insurance. At a campaign stop in Gary, Indiana, a reporter asked Sanders whether his millionaire status was at odds with his populist economic message. He took in $561,293 in adjusted gross income in 2018 - but over a million dollars in both 2017 and 2016, when he had a ton of book revenue coming in. "It was a bestseller, sold all over the world, and we made money".

Sanders in a statement said the returns "show that our family has been very fortunate".

During the 2016 presidential primary, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pressured Sanders to release his tax returns.

Nor is there any suggestion that Sanders would moderate his anti-plutocratic politics to benefit him personally. That year, Sanders disclosed $1.31 million income, combined from his Senate salary and $961,000 in book royalties and sales.
